Human Resources Assistant

Full-Time Contract (May 4th – August 31st) – 70 Hours Bi-Weekly

Who we are:

ILS is an Ontario Health funded not for profit agency providing support and services to adults wishing to live independently in their homes. Through our programs and services, we are able to assist adults living with permanent physical disabilities and seniors aging at home lead independent, dignified, and productive lives.

What you would be doing:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, the Human Resources Assistant will:

Support the Human Resources team in reviewing, analyzing and updating policies

Research various learning management systems and recruitment platforms

Human Resources data collection and analytics

Review and analyze current Human Resources SharePoint folder architecture

HR software platforms research for multiple programs

Develop, review, and update HR and Occupational Health & Safety policies and related tools

Ensure policies align with applicable legislation (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, WSIB) and collective agreements

Collaborate with leadership, HR, and Joint Health and Safety Committees

Design and update health and safety and HR‑related training programs in collaboration with Management Health & Safety representative

Participate in health and safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required

Other HR duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of one year in a College or University Human Resources program

The ideal candidate will possess:

Ability to work in Excel and Microsoft Suite Platforms

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Strong emotional intelligence skill-set re; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to manage work demands both proactively and reactively.

Total Compensation:

Pay: $21.00/hourly

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm on-site at our Barrie location

Other Considerations:

Scheduled time in the Barrie office will be required as well as travel within Simcoe County. Access to a reliable vehicle and valid insurance is required. Your site office may change to a different location in Simcoe County based on operational needs.
