Kitchen and Food Counter Help

West Indian restaurant is seeking two part-time high-energy multi-takers with prior kitchen and serving station experience. The ideal candidates are able to work under time pressures without becoming overwhelmed, have excellent oral and written English and basic math skills, and some cooking ability.

*HOURS *

Every day, Tuesday to Saturday

Shift 1: Morning to Afternoon, 11:00 am to 3:30 pm

Shift 2: Afternoon to Evening, 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm

*MAIN DUTIES*

Preparing and assembling food orders and performing kitchen tasks:

· assembling and packaging take-out and online delivery orders

· prepping and light cooking for certain menu items (on an as-ordered basis)

· grilling meats over live fire (on an as-ordered basis)

· operating various kitchen equipment

· keeping track of food inventory at the serving station and restocking as needed

· helping out at the front counter taking and processing food orders and payments, as required

· Shift 2, Afternoon to Evening also performs closing tasks, including proper food storage, equipment cleaning and shut down, dishwashing, sanitizing, sweeping/mopping floors, trash removal, sanitizing, etc.

*QUALIFICATIONS*

· punctual, reliable, trustworthy

· able to follow directions, take initiative and perform tasks quickly and accurately

· excellent memory, attention to detail, and organizational skills

· friendly, positive attitude

· able to work well independently and with others

· able to walk, stand in place and perform repetitive manual tasks for extended periods

· able to lift, move and carry items up to 25 lbs., including up and down a flight of stairs

*ASSETS*

· familiar with West Indidan/Caribbean cuisine and cooking

· experience using kitchen equipment such as dough sheeter, flat griddle, combi oven

· experience working with flour dough

· Point of Sale experience

· willingness to learn new skills related to our cooking and food service operations

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
