About the Role

You will be responsible for preparing and serving *high-quality, nutritious meals for 70–80 residents daily*, while leading and supporting the dietary team.

This is not a line cook role — this is a *hands-on culinary leadership position* where your skills directly impact resident health, satisfaction, and overall experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare *fresh, from-scratch meals* (no reliance on pre-made/processed foods)

* Plan and execute *daily menus, therapeutic diets, and seasonal meals*

* Ensure meals are served *on time, at proper temperatures, and portion-controlled*

* Lead and supervise Dietary Aides during:

* Food preparation

* Meal service

* Cleaning and sanitation

* Maintain a *clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment*

* Monitor and document:

* Food temperatures

* Deliveries and inventory

* Menu changes and compliance records

* Order and receive food and supplies within budget guidelines

* Minimize waste and maintain cost control

* Ensure full compliance with:

* Public Health regulations

* RHRA standards

* Internal policies and procedures

* Train and mentor staff to deliver *excellent service and consistency*

Qualifications

* Experience cooking for *large groups (50–100+ people)*

* Strong ability to cook *from scratch (soups, sauces, proteins, sides, baking)*

* Experience with *quantity food preparation*

* Knowledge of:

* *Canada’s Food Guide*

* *Therapeutic and modified diets*

* *Food Handler Certification (required)*

* Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

* Leadership ability with a respectful, team-first approach

* Ability to manage kitchen operations independently

* Must be able to:

* Obtain *Vulnerable Sector Check*

* Provide proof of *vaccinations & TB clearance*

Physical Requirements

* Stand for extended periods (up to *10 hours/day*)

* Lift/push/pull up to *50 lbs*

* Work in *warm kitchen environments*

* Perform repetitive food prep tasks (cutting, chopping, peeling)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
